Would you like to work at the interface between AI research and user-friendly applications?
As part of the KIGA project at the Chair of Cognitive Systems at the University of Bamberg, we are looking for a student assistant (HiWi) to develop a prototype in the field of explainable and interactive machine learning. The goal is the user-centred enrichment of a knowledge graph with learned knowledge.

Your tasks:
- Working with an OWL-based knowledge graph as a data and schema basis
- Developing a graphical user interface for displaying learned logical rules
- Visualising prototypical examples as subgraphs to illustrate the rules
- Integrating verbalisation techniques, e.g. through language models (LLMs)
- Users should be able to correct rules, name classes and integrate them into the knowledge graph

What you bring to the table:
- Fluent language skills in German and English
- Studying (applied) computer science or Wirtschaftsinformatik (bachelor's or master's)
- Good programming skills, preferably in Python
- Ability to understand and interpret logical rules
- Initial experience in the development of graphical user interfaces
- Interest in explainable artificial intelligence, ideally with some initial experience in the field

- Flexible working hours (average 10–20 hours per week)
- Option to work from home or use rooms at ERBA (KogSys lab, shared office)
- Position expected to last until the end of the project in June 2026
- Prospect of contributing to a scientific publication as first or second author
- Salary of €14/h without a degree, €15/h with a degree
